Toner cartridge and drum Caution: Read the instructions below before you begin installation. After you have read them, open the drum unit protection bag. The drum unit contains a photosensitive drum. Exposing it to light may damage the drum. Once you have opened the protection bag: —Do not expose the drum unit to light for more than 5 minutes. - Page 15 The toner cartridge is installed when the triangles match. Tap on the toner cartridge several times to allow the toner to fall into the drum unit. Grab the tabs, and shake the drum and toner unit horizontally several times. The dialling mode setting is wrong. Change the setting of feature #13 (p. 58) (KX-FL501AL only). Disconnect the unit from the telephone line and connect the line to a known working telephone. If the working telephone operates properly, contact our service personnel to have the unit repaired. -

Replacement Replacing the toner cartridge and the drum When the display shows the following message, replace the toner cartridge. TONER LOW We recommend you replace the drum unit every third time you replace the toner cartridge. To check the drum life and quality, please print the printer test list (p. 78). Model No. - Page 71 Pull up the right edge of the used toner cartridge ( ). Remove the cartridge from the drum unit ( The toner may stick to the cartridge and the drum unit. Be careful in handling. Install the drum and toner unit by holding the tabs. If the lower glass is dirty, clean it with a soft dry cloth. Lower glass Close the front cover, until locked, by pushing down on both sides. Waste disposal method Waste material may be dumped or incinerated under conditions which meet all country and local environmental regulations. - Page 73 When the recording paper has jammed near the recording paper exit: Remove the jammed paper by pulling it toward you.
