    Getting started Connections • Do not connect the AC power cord until all other connections have been made. • Since different components often have different terminal names, carefully read the instructions supplied with the components you are going to connect. Connecting a TV To view pictures and on-screen displays, connect the TV to the center unit.
  • Page 14 Getting started Connecting the FM and AM (MW) antennas Make sure the antenna conductors do not touch any other terminals, connecting cords and power cords. This could cause poor reception. 7 AM (MW) loop antenna Setting up supplied AM (MW) loop antenna Attach the AM (MW) loop to its base by snapping the tabs on the loop into the slot on the base.

    Getting started Connecting the powered subwoofer Connect the supplied powered subwoofer (SP-PWM45) using the system cord (supplied). • Connect the system cord by matching the 5 marks on the plugs to the ones on the center unit and powered subwoofer. Ensure that the 5 mark on the plug faces down.
  • Page 16 Getting started 7 Connecting the satellite (front, center, surround) speakers Be sure to identify each speaker (SP-THM45C/SP-THM45F/SP-THM45S) and connect them to the corresponding terminals of the powered subwoofer. CAUTION • When you connect (larger) speakers other than the supplied ones, only use speakers with the same speaker impedance (SPEAKER IMPEDANCE) as indicated by the speaker terminals on the rear of the powered subwoofer.

    Getting started Connecting to an analog component You can enjoy the sound of an analog component such as a VCR, TV, or Cassette recorder with this system. Use RCA pin plug cords (not supplied) for connection.     Getting started Connecting the power cord Make sure that all connections have been completed, before plugging in the power cords of the center unit and powered subwoofer. Firmly insert the supplied power cord into the Ó AC IN socket on the rear of the center unit.

    Basic operations Selecting the source to play On the remote control: Press one of the source selecting buttons (DVD, FM/AM, AUX or TV SOUND). DVD: To play back a disc (DVD, Video CD etc.). (A pg. 21, 23) FM/AM: To tune in an FM or AM (MW) station. (A pg. 25) Each time you press the button, the band alternates between FM and AM (MW).

  • Page 27 Playback NOTE • You can also start playback by pressing 3 (play button) or DVD. • Regardless of the operation for starting playback, the system plays back all available discs sequentially until you stop playback. However, the system stops playback after playback of the disc in the fifth tray.

    Tuner operations Press MEMORY. The channel number position starts flashing on the display window for about 5 seconds. While the channel number position is flashing: Press number button(s) (1-10, +10) to select a channel number. The channel number and the CH indicator start flashing. If you use a small speaker in any position, this system automatically reallocates the bass sound elements assigned to the small speaker to one of the large speakers. To use this function properly, set crossover frequency level according to the size of the smallest speaker connected.
