Overview What you can do with your Network Walkman First, you need to install the SonicStage Software into your computer. You can easily transfer digital audio files from your computer to the built-in flash memory or MagicGate-compatible “Memory Stick Duo” (not supplied), and carry it anywhere to enjoy.
• The supplied SonicStage software enables you to transfer songs recorded using the recording cradle to your computer (NW-MS77DR), and to record songs from audio CDs to the hard disc of your computer, using the ATRAC3plus format (high sound quality, high compression).

Recording onto your Network Walkman — Only for NW-MS77DR You can record songs onto your Network Walkman from a digital audio device (e.g. CD player) using an optical digital cable (supplied), or an analog audio device (e.g. cassette tape player) using a connecting cord (not supplied), not via computer.

Limiting the volume (AVLS) You can set AVLS (Automatic Volume Limiter System) to limit the maximum volume to prevent auditory disturbance or distraction. With AVLS, you can listen to music at a comfortable volume level. Press and hold the SOUND/AVLS button for half a second.

Selecting the bit rate — Only for NW-MS77DR You can select the recording bit rate (48 kbps or 64 kbps) using the ATRAC3plus format. The higher the bit rate, the better the sound quality. However, audio data increases in size.

Regrouping songs (REGROUP) The song group function may be disabled* when a song has been deleted from or added to the built-in flash memory or “Memory Stick Duo” by operating the computer in which the SonicStage software is not installed (page 15). In such a case, you may enable the group function by regrouping audio file.
Charging the battery with a USB connection (USB CHARGE) The setting enables you to charge your Network Walkman by connecting your Network Walkman to the computer using the dedicated USB cable.
