    Installing the Cartridge This section describes how to install the cartridge in the machine for the very first time. If you are replacing a used cartridge, see p. 12-7. Before installing the cartridge, be sure to read the following: • Use only FX-3 cartridges in your machine. The FX-3 S Cartridge is a starter cartridge that comes with your machine, and yields approximately 1,500 pages of printouts.
  • Page 38 Follow this procedure to install the cartridge in the machine: Make sure the machine is plugged in. Lift the latch and open the front cover. Do not try to open the front cover without lifting the latch since this may damage your machine. Remove the FX-3 S Cartridge from its protective bag.
  • Page 39 Place and support the cartridge on a flat, clean surface, then gently pull on the plastic tab to remove the plastic seal. • Use a firm, even pull to avoid breaking the seal. Hold the cartridge by its handle and insert it into the machine as far as it will go, making sure that its tabs are aligned with the rails inside the machine.

    Loading Paper This section explains how to load plain paper in the multi-purpose tray. For complete details on paper and other print media for use with your machine, see Chapter 5.
