Remove the shipping materials and install the cassette. 1 Place the machine on a flat surface. 2 Remove all shipping tapes from the exterior of the machine. 3 Open the document feeder tray. 4 Pull out the paper cassette completely. 6 Attach the extension cover on the back of the machine.
Install the cartridge. 1 Remove the cartridge from the bag. Keep the bag in a safe place for future use. 3 Hold the cartridge on a flat stable surface with one hand, and break the tab the seal completely with the other hand. 5 Hold the cartridge so that the instructions are facing up, and insert it in the machine horizontally as far as it will go.
Connect the power cord. Plug the power cord into the rear socket . Then connect the other end of the cord to the wall outlet . IMPORTANT Use of a power cord with ferrite cores (included) is required to comply with class limits in Subpart B of Part 15 of the FCC Rules.
Load paper. 1 Pull out the paper cassette completely. 3 Load the paper into the cassette. Make sure the paper stack sits below the hooks. Hooks 5 Even out the edges of the paper stack. Make sure the height of the paper stack does not exceed the limit marks NOTE If you do not completely insert the cassette into the machine, paper jams may occur.

Quit any open applications, including virus checking software. Insert the imageCLASS MF5500 Series User Software CD into the CD-ROM drive. When the Canon MF5550/MF5530 Main Menu screen appears, click [Install Software]. If the Main Menu screen is not displayed, on the Windows desktop, click [Start] Open the CD-ROM icon, then double-click [setup (setup.exe)].

When the installation is complete, click [Finish] to close the InstallShield Wizard. When prompted to connect the USB cable, click [OK]. Make sure the machine’s power is turned on, and connect the cable to the USB port on the back of the machine. Then connect the other end of the cable to the USB port on your computer.
