Helpful Hints

You only need to make one video connection to your TV in order to view the DVD playback.
If your TV has only a single Antenna In jack, you will need an accessory RF modulator.
The RF modulator converts the video from the DVD system so it can play through the TV's
Antenna connector. Refer to your owner's manual for proper connection.

Additional Video Input Connections can provide better picture quality and image for DVD
movie playback (If your TV is compatible) :

Connect the DVD system VIDEO OUT(put) directly to the TV. Do not connect to a VCR first and
then to a TV. This type of connection may distort the picture and sound playback.
When listening to TV programs, press TV/AV button on the remote to set the DVD system to
TV/AV mode in order for the sound to be heard.

    Turn on the TV and select the correct Video In mode. You should see the blue Philips DVD background screen on the TV (if no disc in the DVD system). Usually this channel is between the lowest and highest channels and may be called FRONT, A/V IN, or VIDEO.

    Step 2: Connecting the speakers Connect the supplied speaker systems using the supplied speaker cables by matching the colors of the jacks and speaker cables. Press up (or down) the speaker’s jack and fully insert the stripped portion of the speaker cable into the jack, then release.

    Inserting batteries into the remote control Open the battery compartment. Place the batteries in the compartment with the correct polarity as indicated by “+“ and “-“ symbols. Close the cover. CAUTION! – Remove batteries if they are exhausted or will not be used for a long time.

    Setting the language – Audio – Subtitle – Disc Menu G This is to select the audio language, subtitle language and the language used on TV screen menus or DVD menus that will always be used for every disc to be played back. The default setting is English.

    Selecting the surround sound mode IMPORTANT! – For proper surround sound, make sure you have followed the “Connections” and “Preparations” procedures fully. – The center and surround speakers only operate when the system is set to surround sound mode and the source material being played is recorded or broadcast in Dolby Digital, DTS or Dolby Pro Logic surround sound.
